Jeff Schenck · Chief Branding Strategist & CCTO

Everyone is producing more than ever. Almost no one is saying anything.

I work with senior leaders who know their brand should be doing more, and need someone who can see exactly why it isn't.

02The argument

AI made execution cheap. Meaning is now the advantage.

AI handles production. Distribution. Optimization. What it cannot handle is the why. Why a brand exists. What it refuses to be. How it makes people feel when the transaction ends. That is a philosophical architecture, and it is what I build.

I am Jeff Schenck, a Chief Branding Strategist and Chief Creative Technology Officer. I decide what a brand means, then build the AI systems and workflow automation that hold that meaning across everything it produces. Fifteen years, 130+ projects, more than $20M generated across all clients, in healthcare, EdTech, SaaS, entertainment, and nonprofit.

06QuestionsStraight answers

The honest version of what I do, what the seat is called, and what it costs.

What is a Chief Creative Technology Officer?

A Chief Creative Technology Officer owns the place where brand judgment meets the systems that produce the work. Not the person who buys the AI tools, and not the person who writes the tagline. The one who decides what the brand means, then designs the workflows, models, and automations that make every downstream asset come out on-brand at volume. It is a seat most companies have not named yet, which is exactly why the work keeps falling through the cracks. Here is the full definition.

Why not just hire a CMO?

You can, and plenty of good ones exist. But CMO is a catch-all. It covers demand gen, comms, product marketing, and ops, and most of that is executable by a competent team once the strategy is right. The scarce part sits above it and below it: what the brand actually means, and the automated systems that hold that meaning across thousands of AI-generated assets. That is the work I take.

Brand strategy vs. marketing strategy?

Marketing strategy decides which channels you use and what you spend. Brand strategy decides what you mean, who you are for, and what you refuse to be. Marketing built on unresolved brand strategy is exactly why teams produce more every quarter and move nothing.

How do you work with clients?

Four ways. A two-week Sprint that takes one broken process apart and hands it back as an automated system your team owns. Fractional brand and creative-technology leadership inside your organization. A focused brand strategy engagement: diagnosis, architecture, execution. Or workflow architecture and mentoring, where I build the AI systems and then train your people to run them.

What does this cost vs. a full-time executive?

A full-time executive at this level runs roughly $200,000 to $300,000 in base salary before equity and benefits. I work fractionally, so you get the seniority immediately at a fraction of that, scoped to the work rather than the calendar. Sprints are fixed-fee. Retainers are monthly. Either can convert into something larger.

What industries have you worked in?

More than ten. Healthcare, EdTech, SaaS, entertainment, consumer, food and hospitality, and nonprofit. 130+ projects, B2B and B2C, startup through enterprise, and more than $20 million generated across all of them.
